Brown Bagging it With the Big Guys

5 hamburgers from McDonalds, $5.  5 orders of fries and 5 side salads, also from McDonalds, $10.  5 brown bags from, you guessed it, McDonalds, free.  Dinner with the staff of one of the sorriest teams in the NBA, pathetic.

Brothers, Chris and Rob Lisi of Middletown, N.J, were treated to a “brown bag” lunch with cheif executive Brett Yormark, and two of the New Jersey Nets radio members.  During a game about a week ago, Lisi sported the latest trend in sports fashion, a paper bag, worn over his head.  He chose his attire to make a statement, and that he did.  The point he wanted to portray was the monotonousness of the Nets’ losing nearly every game this season.  The point he succeeded in making was that he is indeed a total loser.  At some point in the game, Yormark scolded Lisi like a school boy who pulled the pig tail of the little girl in front of him.

Either Yormark’s conscience ate at him to the point of apologizing to the boy, or the team was in desperate need of a marketing scheme.  They shared a “roughly” 30 minute meal, that the team apparently didn’t even pay for, as it was reportedly provided by McDonalds.  The dinner party was held at the team headquarters, and broadcast live over the teams website.  Days later they tried to attract people to the venue to witness another probable slaughter, by saying that they would give a nylon “goodie bag” to anyone that attended with a paper bag on their head.

Maybe if the attendance to the Nets’ games is dwindling that bad, they should consider a couple other alternatives in marketing.  One, have their players actually win a game now and then.  Or, simply,if the fans aren’t “Lovin’ It”  consider just letting them  ‘Have it Their Way’.
